A Note from Deidre
Food brings people together. Cooking makes every day more interesting, more daring. I delight in the whole food process, from planting the tiny seeds in my garden to plucking them from the vine at harvest, from mixing and whisking and simmering to devouring the final product eagerly with my husband.
The Coming Appetite is named after a condition to which my Grammy - a stupendous cook and wonderful woman - was often subject - she would say she wasn't hungry, but as soon as a plate of something was prepared and put in front of her, she would eat the whole thing. When someone would point out to her that she wasn't hungry, she'd say, "Well, I had a comin' appetite." Don't we all know how that feels?
And me? Well, I'm just a Maine girl with a hearty appetite who married a potato farmer with an even heartier appetite. Our little home has been blessed big by God. I'm an elementary school teacher and my husband, Ethan, helps manage the family farm. And we're just doing life together, trying to have fun and eat yummy food along the way.
